Dance With Me

"Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance."
Oprah Winfrey, O Magazine, February 2003

Dear friends,

So much to do and so little motivation to do them… It's so not like me… and I'm so annoyed by it!

I feel a little bit overwhelmed mentally and emotionally, as the time get closer and closer for me to travel to Israel and visit my family. I should be used to it by now, since I go through this every time I'm about to make this journey. Don't get me wrong - I do like visiting my family and seeing everyone but I think it has to do more with who I am because traveling always stresses me. I think it's the idea of leaving home that makes me uncomfortable...but I will be fine while I'm away.

I created the above image with the thought of giving it as a gift to a friend of mine in Israel, but I keep wondering if she really would like it. I have not seen her for so many years that I don’t know what she likes and what her style is anymore, plus I've changed as well. I know she always supported and loved my art, but I do not enjoy giving a gift for the sake of giving a gift if I don't know what the person likes or wants.

I would like to hear your real thoughts about this collage. I'm not afraid to hear criticism about my work since it can help me grow, so please leave a comment. Of course, I would also like to hear what you may like about my collage, too.

Cheers

  1. The collage is great...I'd give it to your friend so she can see how you've changed, grown, and what you are into...I can't imagine her NOT loving it, for what it is and also because you made it for her.

Oh that is a long journey to Israel. I wish you a safe trip. Will you travel around there or stay put visiting family? You go anywhere near the Yemik Israel wave at Kibbutz Heftzibah for me please...my home of five years in the early 60's. ;~)

Will you blog from Israel I wonder?

  2. If she is a friend of yours dearheart then she will love your gift, even if it is not her style. Let all that approval seeking stuff go and just give her this beautiful gift and know that if you were led to create it then she is meant to receive it! I think it is beautiful!

  5. We should all be so lucky, as to have one of your incredible collages, E! Your friend will love that you are giving a part of your heart to her.... as a person always does, when they give a gift of art. No one could mistake your beautiful spirit!
I hope you have a fantastic time in Israel, and come back to the U.S. with a whole new way to see yourself, your life, your art.... what an amazing journey. I wish you and your family good health and great happiness on your visit!
